Maybe I am just more sensitive than I normally am since I don't feel well but the past two mornings have sucked! I won't go into too many details because it is disgusting but let's just say yesterday's incident involved being woken up, poop, cleaning, bathing and mess all over the house by an almost 4 year old who should know better.
Then this morning, while in a rush as always on a Tuesday, I found my car battery dead. It is my fault but let me explain the situation. Recently, I found mouse remains if you know what I mean, in my garage and in the car as well. We caught the mouse. Yay! I had cleaned the car but found more remains in the car seats. I had to turn my car light on to see what I was doing. I went on to do more things and forgot the car light was on. E shut the car and garage and I went to bed very early. Usually I would have found the light on later in the night or have remembered to turn the light back out but I was asleep at 6:30 last night. This sinus infection is throwing me for a loop.
I called my next door neighbor, who was so great and let me use her car to drive Logan to school. I got back in time for her to leave and AAA showed up later to jump my car. Thank you neighbor and AAA! All was good in the end but I sure hope tomorrow morning is better than the last two.

Doctor's visit for me
Four weeks have passed and my belly button has not healed yet so I decided to get it checked out at the doctor's office. This is the third time at this doctor's office I have waited over an hour past my appointment time before the doctor finally makes her appearance. There was a evaluation form left on the counter top and I swooped it up to make my disappointments known. What do they think, that my time is not important? How is it possible to be so behind schedule consistently when you are a Gynecologist. She doesn't even deal with pregnant patients.
They did not charge me for the visit although it is possible I will get a bill later for the co-pay. My belly button is just slow to heal, not infected. I used my time wisely and had her prescribe meds for my sinus infection while I was there. Might as well take advantage. Who wants to go sit in another office for over an hour to be seen.

Miserable shopping experience
I needed several things from the store and decided to go to Walmart. I usually try to shop while Logan is in school so I don't have both kids but thought I would try it. I was buying a variety of things...cat litter, vegetable plants, tomato cages, bread, milk etc.. I used the cart that has the two seated section attached to the cart since I would be filling it up. Not long after I got there the boys started fighting. They were smacking, kicking, punching and screaming at each other from the start. That should have been my warning to go home then.
After breaking up several fights, Logan had to go to the potty. Then we start shopping again and more smacking, kicking and hitting. I am getting really annoyed. None of the buggies have the appropriate straps to hold your kids in place. They are all missing something so Lucas jumps out of the cart and at full sprint runs through the women's department darting in and out of racks of clothes. He is gone and Logan and I have to leave our over sized and overloaded cart and run after him. I am picturing some stranger taking him out of the store and never seeing him again. We finally found him and I spanked him. GASP! I was so frustrated by now and my patience was running thin. I still had more shopping to do.
Eventually more fighting ensued and I made whoever's fault it was walk along the side of the cart holding the strap. I told Logan several times that we were planning to go to Peter Piper Pizza for lunch if he could behave himself. Unfortunately, he continued with his poor behavior and I told him that we were not going to go out to lunch now. Logan started wailing and brought much attention to himself. He was crying and saying "I'm not going to do it again, Mom!" but then he would make Lucas cry again.
I was finished shopping and thought my nightmare shopping trip was ending until Lucas ran away again. He hopped right out of the cart and made a b-line across Walmart at full sprint. The little fellow it so tiny it is pretty easy to loose him when he is hiding under the clothes. I was ready to whip him by this point but didn't want to get turned in for child abuse so I carried him to the check out line. Logan cried the whole time I was trying to check out because he was so sad we weren't going out to lunch. I held my ground and we did not go. Maybe he will learn from this experience. I learned something too....never, ever take both kids to Walmart again!!!!

A new trend
I walked into the bathroom last night and heard Logan talking to himself. He said "O.K. I think I am going to try this. I am just going to stand up to go pee pee. Here I go." As soon as I realized what he was doing he figured out I was behind him. As he was going to the bathroom he turns to tell me his accomplishment and tinkled down the side of the toilet. I have no idea why he chose yesterday to begin standing up but it was his decision.
Logan has been sitting down to go potty up until now and I highly recommend it for little boys for as long as they will do it. It is so much less messier and there is no risk of the lid slamming on their boy parts.
On another potty discussion, Lucas has been doing really good going to the potty. He has gone out in public a few times after telling me he had to go potty. He has days where he goes three times in one day but also has some accidents. I keep reverting back to the diapers (I know is a big no-no) and this morning he refused to sit on the potty. Unfortunately, it sounds like we are having a set back. My goal is by August he will be potty trained. Oh how great it would be....and a year sooner than Logan.

Memaw's visit
Enjoying the treats that were inside their Easter eggs.
Showing off their loot.
Lucas wasn't the most observant finding eggs but Logan was very quick and could spot them from far away.
My mom had her spring break from school and spent it with us. We had such a fun and busy week together. E and I enjoyed a date night to the art museum in Dallas and dinner. Mom and I had a girls night out and went shopping, dinner and wine at the Cru wine bar then knitting together afterwards. She is working on the most beautiful blanket for Logan. I have knitted two scarves and a baby hat as my first three projects. We enjoyed our time knitting together and I got some helpful advice from her as well. I had several appointments and meetings and I took advantage of her babysitting services. We went swimming at the gym, the Ft. Worth zoo, the Arboretum, a pot luck picnic at the neighborhood park, Easter egg hunt and went to several of her favorite spots to eat. It seemed as if every moment was busy. We celebrated her upcoming birthday with a gluten free cake that I made. She really seems to like the American idol Wii game we gave her. It was such a nice visit and the boys really enjoyed having their Memaw with them giving them lots of attention. Thanks for everything Mom!
Last Mommy and me at the Arboretum
Since we purchase the family membership, we decided to go to the last Mommy and me Monday at the Arboretum of the season. I am so sad it has ended. We took a picture with James French photography and it turned out super cute. I wish I could put it on here but don't want to get sued. My mom really enjoyed the flowers and watching the kids take the classes. We bundled up and brought a picnic. We stayed for several hours and really enjoyed ourselves.
Plano Kidsfest
After my Mom left, E decided it would be fun to go to some festivals. I had been running around all week and would have preferred to have stayed home. The kidsfest was fun. They had several things to do. The home depot table was especially busy since the kids got aprons and made wooden bird houses. Logan decorated a ceramic Texas magnet, played a turn at bowling, and enjoyed getting in the police car. They got lots of free coupons, stickers and some candy. We went to a grand opening at the Fieldhouse USA afterwards but missed the Easter egg hunt. It turned out to be a fun day had by all.
Logan and Lauren
Recently, Logan came home from school and we found a bag in his backpack. Logan said "It's Lauren!" I was really confused until I figured out that Lauren is the stuffed Lion who is a friend in the classroom. Each child gets a turn to take Lauren home and include her in their daily activities. Logan loved having this animal for the weekend and slept with her every night. We were required to write a story about what they did together, draw a picture of Lauren or take pictures. Lauren came with a story about the loudest lion and a game which Logan deemed "his favorite game ever." Lately everything with Logan seems to be his favorite or he loves it.
There's a monster!
The boys have been playing this pretend game they made up for a few weeks now that cracks me up. It keeps them busy for at least 30 minutes. They scream "There's a monster, over there!" and then run over to that direction. They use their inflatable hammer and bats and whack the heck out of the supposed "monster". Then one of them says. "Now we have to scoop it up and throw it in the trash!" At least they are tidy about their slayings.

Close call
I have been in this mad, crazy cleaning and organizing spree since my mother is coming to stay with us for a week. I was in the office organizing papers, filing and throwing out things. It was stuffy and with the temp drop last night I decided to open the window. The kids were down stairs reading books to each other. I had the thought that the open window was dangerous because it is one of those low ones that are 8 inches off of the floor but figured it was alright since Lucas was downstairs.
Eventually the books must have gotten boring for Lucas so I heard him coming upstairs. I thought to myself "Make sure to keep him out of the office". I was filing some more papers and Lucas walked into the room and made a B line for the window, pushed on it and almost fell out! I realized what he was doing as the screen fell out and landed on the cement patio two stories down. I yanked him by the hand and almost had a heart attach thinking about what could have happened. It took me at least 30 minutes to calm down afterwards. That was a very close call and I will never be opening that window again. I hope this is a lesson that other people can learn from. Thankfully we did not become one of those statistics.
Another lesson others can learn from is don't forget the sunscreen. Lucas got burned up a couple of weeks ago. I swear it was only an hour he was outside playing in the cool air without his shirt on. I felt terrible about that one too! I think I might get my mothering licence revoked.

Memaw is coming
We have been counting down the days until Memaw (grandma) arrives. Three days left! We haven't seen her since Christmas and she hasn't been here for a year it seems. We have lots planned such as the Arboretum again, the zoo, date night with Eric, night out with Mom to celebrate her birthday, doctors appointments, meetings and even sending her to Logan's preschool to read during their story time (didn't let her know about this one yet). It should be a full week and we all are really looking forward to her visit.
